Houtris proudly completed the delivery of 25 state-of-the-art, all-terrain firefighting vehicles to the Department of Forests of Cyprus, marking a significant milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to enhance its wildfire response capabilities.

This project, valued at approximately €25.7 million, is part of a wider initiative to strengthen Cyprus’ readiness ahead of what is expected to be a challenging summer season. Houtris, in close collaboration with the Department of Forests and key government stakeholders, designed and manufactured these high-performance vehicles locally, ensuring they meet the demanding conditions of modern firefighting, both in and beyond forest areas.

The official handover ceremony took place at the Department of Forests’ Environmental Education and Information Centre, in the presence of Dr. Maria Panayiotou, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, and Dr. Savvas Iezekiel, Director of the Department of Forests. Both emphasized the vital role these vehicles will play in enhancing Cyprus’ firefighting infrastructure, as well as the government’s continuous efforts to equip the department with modern resources.

Dr. Panayiotou described the delivery as “a day of pride” for Cyprus, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening the department with both equipment and trained personnel.

Dr. Iezekiel expressed satisfaction with the completion of the project, noting that additional equipment, including bulldozer platforms and tankers, will soon follow.

Representing Houtris, CEO Yiannis Houtris highlighted the company’s deep commitment to innovation and public safety:

“At Houtris, we are honored to contribute to Cyprus’ national firefighting mission with vehicles fully engineered and built on Cypriot soil. We continue to provide solutions that protect communities, forests, and our environment.”

Our teams gathered on-site during the delivery and handover, marking a proud moment for everyone involved in this project.

This delivery forms part of the national program “Protection of Forests from Fires”, under the broader Recovery and Resilience Plan (ΣΑΑ). As Cyprus faces growing environmental challenges, Houtris stands ready to provide advanced solutions that safeguard people and nature.
