Rapid Response Vehicles

Rapid Response vehicles produced by S. Houtris Ltd are designed and manufactured to be easily adjusted on low capacity vehicles, and this makes them ideal for impassable areas. Units consist of water tank, water spray pressure system, long fire-resistance hose and handle/pistol with spray function for more effective results.

Rapid Response Vehicles

Rapid Response vehicles manufactured by Houtris, are vehicles that can easily negotiate difficult terrain and high-gradient roads, be self-reliant, and have high clearances for wheels and suspension.

These Rapid Response vehicles are traditionally smaller than standard fire fighting trucks and are primarily used for as the quick solution for vegetation fires or wildland fires until the larger fire fighting trucks arrive.

They may also respond to emergencies in rough terrain where other vehicles cannot respond. The Rapid Response vehicles feature four-wheel drive capability to improve hill climbing and rough terrain capability.

Some Rapid Response vehicles can pump water while driving, allowing “running attacks” on vegetation fires to minimize the rate of spread.

Rapid Response vehicles produced by Houtris are designed and manufactured to be easily adjusted on low capacity vehicles, and this makes them ideal for impassable areas.

Units consist of water tank, water spray pressure system, long fire-resistance hose and handle/pistol with spray function for more effective results.

Main Features:

Autonomous Fire Fighting System

  • The autonomous fire fighting system includes the motor, the pump, the various controls and instruments, the water tank, the reels tubes, high pressure tubes, the tubes of high pressure, the frame and various piping of this system and everything else needed to extinguish fire. The total weight of the autonomous fire fighting system, without water, does not exceed 300 kg.

Fire Fighting System – Engine

  • It is four-stroke engine, internal combustion with spark plug.
  • It is air-cooled with overhead valves (ΟΗV).
  • The engine power is at least 13HP.
  • Features exhaust system.
  • It is gasoline powered and has fuel tank capacity of not less than 7.5 liters.
  • It has an electric starter, consisting of a 12V battery and electric starter / Start button.
  • It also features a starter cord with return spring which in an emergency and in combination with the ignition coil to allow the start of the machine, without the help of the battery.

Fire Fighting System – Pump

  • It has two exports. Exports have pellet valve and snap connectors.
  • It features a control valve to adjust the operating pressure.
  • It has efficiency of at least 80 liters per minute and a maximum pressure between 40 and 50 bar.

Fire Fighting System – Controls/Instrumentation

  • They are ergonomically placed. The pump has a speed regulator of the engine, electric starter / Start button, export pressure gauge and hour meter.

Fire Fighting System – Water Tank

  • The capacity is 500 to 550 liters.
  • Features valve to drain the tank.
  • It features a water level indicator.
  • It has providence for ventilation.
  • Provided with an opening with a lid for internal control and filling on top.
  • It is made of stainless steel or reinforced plastic fiber glass (GRP) or equivalent anti-corrosion material.
  • The water tank is easily removable from the cargo area. For this purpose carries suitable rings for lifting and removal.
  • It is equipped with the necessary longitudinal and transverse baffles to reduce splashing the contents, during movement of the vehicle.

Fire Fighting System – Hose reel

  • Each reel bearing reel handle and locking mechanism.
  • The hose reel is made from anti-corrosive material.
  • Each extinguishing system has two reels axial feed pipe joined in both exports pump.
  • With each fire system, a suitable snap connector is delivered, through which it can be joined pipes high pressure system.
  • Each reel bearing high pressure lumpen that works on solid firing positions and fire sprinkling. The length firing of the lumpen in solid firing position, is at least 14 meters.
  • Each reel is equipped with high pressure pipe, approximately fifty (50) meters, featuring automatic type connections, and has an operating pressure of at least 150 bar.

Fire Fighting System – High Pressure Spare Tubes

  • Each system comes with two spare tubes high pressure of about 50 meters, with snap connections.

Fire Fighting System – Mounting / Installation

  • The fire extinguishing system is installed in the cargo area of the vehicle, so as to ensure the smooth and safe driving of the vehicle in off road driving operational conditions.
  • The reels of the extinguishing system will be placed one on each side of the cargo space, at a suitable height from the floor, so as to obtain the easy and smooth operation.
  • In the two inner sides of the vehicle cargo space, driver’s and passenger’s side, there is a provision for mounting in a horizontal position, a shovel and a backhoe on each side respectively. The placement and retention tools is achieved by an appropriate number of quick-unlocking links.
